WorkAgility: Pushing Boundaries

Although based in Cape Town, the Quoin Online team sits across the country, in Johannesburg,
Pretoria, Durban and East London. We have been grappling with remote working prior to Covid and
have come to discover that two elements are required…..technology and trust. But more about our
remote working on another occasion. Last week we had a in-contact strategy session in Cape Town
for three days and realized that our office space in Claremont was both two small and inadequate.

This was a great excuse to test the Workagility space being marketed by Growthpoint. Firstly, this is
not co-working space but is a plug & play workspace for businesses who require high quality, well
located, high end office space. Although the office space is readily available, it certainly feels like it
has been bespoked for an individual tenants needs. With the wellness of staff in mind, and
productivity a key feature, the premises have been designed to accommodate the needs of the
modern employee. Desk space with comfortable seating, good lighting and magnificent views of the
mountain was available at all the workstations. Styled on an open plan seating configuration, the
space planners took into account the need for privacy and the need to get away from your desk,
with informal breakaway spaces, boardrooms and meeting rooms. Even a place to answer my
telephone and discuss supper plans with my wife, without the rest of the office listening in.

A large well appointed kitchen space with every appliance available makes deciding on an office
space so easy. Growthpoint have certainly moved their office offering into a “hospitality service”.
From the security at reception to the community manager, you get the distinct feeling that
Workagility is more than space, its about service.

To make things even easier, Workagility uses cutting edge technology to allow prospective tenants
to view, make offers, and sign the lease, all online. I can do all this without leaving my
computer…..everything at the push of a button. This has made entering into an agreement quick
and efficient. They even managed to whittle down the lease from its usual 80 pages to just a few
with the added convenience that you can now rent small and mid sized office space in A grade
locations…..and the lease periods are flexible. And you sign the lease through an online signature
application…as well as FICA verification. The process, from viewing, to sitting behind a desk, The
tech is better than first world….its out of this world.

So, armed only with a few rooibos teabags and our laptops, we were able to immediately get to
work as the wifi is connected, the desks are in place and every cup, saucer and teaspoon was in the
cupboard. We could dial up colleagues and join remotely with state of the art audio visual and
conferencing facilities. Its almost like AirBnB….for offices…..but better, so much better. So if you are
looking for a new home…..try Workagility
